Q.What are the differences between the default (Ochanoko) search and Google Search functions?

Default (Ochanoko) search is specifically intended for searching items. It searches item names, model numbers, and the main description field, and displays items that match your query in a sortable list on your shop. Items become searchable as soon as they are added to your shop. Searches are not case sensitive, but are limited to exact strings, with no variation; e.g. a search for the word "grey" will not bring up entries including the word "gray."

Google Search, on the other hand, redirects to an (external) Google search of your website. It searches not only item pages but all pages on your site, such as category or group names, item reviews, blog entries, and custom pages. If the same text is displayed on multiple pages, as with elements in the sidebar area, every page where that text appears will be listed in the search. Searches are more tolerant of spelling variations (e.g. grey/gray) and typos, and Google search operators can be used. There may be a delay between adding or deleting information from your shop and your changes being indexed in the search.

To change between default search and Google Search functions, navigate in your Shop Manager to DesignLayout, and click on the Search items box in the Header section.
